Chris started Pilates for lower back pain on May 31, 2023. She came to me desperate for relief from a herniated disc at L5/S1. She was on regular doses of Percocet just to function. In just a few weeks she was off the Percocet! She has faithfully taken lessons 3 times per week for a total of 145 lessons and has had regular Kinesiology/Chiropractic appointments.
Yes, her disc is still herniated BUT we have balanced her body and minimized her old movement patterns. She is now helping her daughter remodel her house and laying tile, painting, etc… Is she 100% pain free? No, but she is able to do what she loves to do with minimal discomfort and has many, many “good” days. She has quality of movement and quality of life. She also is progressing beautiful through the Pilates method – she is moving into the advanced Reformer and mat exercises. We don’t rush, we just keep building her body and asking it to do more and more…
No surgery…How Pilates for lower back pain has helped!
Bravo Chris for doing everything that you could do to get well!! No surgery necessary!! She could have spent her money on surgery and her time in recovery but she chose to take control and own her body!
